Learning the Basics

Whether using wood, concrete, or faith, successful builders appreciate value. For them, it’s appreciating the value of having and using the right tools, pertaining to what they’re building.

Hammers, nails, saws, and tape measures work well with wood. For concrete, things like mixers, rebar, shovels, and finishers fit right in. In life, the right tools include a Bible, a good concordance, and something to write on and with, such as a notebook, with a pencil or pen Now you’re ready!

Regardless of what you’re building, you must have the right foundation to build upon. Once the world’s tallest building, the Empire State Building is an architectural wonder of steel and concrete. The whole structure is anchored with over 200 piers, none of which are wooden. They’re concrete.

Why not wood? It’s certainly cheaper, plus quicker to build with than concrete. But constructing a building on the scale of the Empire State Building requires having something far more secure than wood. It also means having the right tools for the right foundation. Ones which will perform under the most difficult conditions. A 102-story building, standing after over 90 years, is one proof that the builders’ choice of concrete was the right foundational material.

God’s been building successful lives for much longer than buildings have been standing. For 2,000 years successful lives have had a foundation of who they are and what they have what, in Christ, and what they can do, through Christ. Simple, foundational truths. Basics. Better lives for better futures.

Concrete, wood-even steel-works in building earthly structures. Nothing of this earth lasts forever. Building something eternal requires using material that’s alive, something that will never die. God’s
Words are eternal (Matthew 24:35). Eternally alive (John 6:63). God’s Word is the primary building material you’ll always need to build and establish a successful foundation, beginning in your spirit.

As eternal beings, we will live forever. Christians will live forever with the Lord. Those who reject Jesus as Savior will also live forever, but eternally separated from God. Those are the two choices given by God: Eternal life or eternal death. Simple truth. I’ve chosen Jesus, how about you?
